Call to Action: Support Nova Scotia Emergency Dispatchers / July 21, 2026

Dear Members,

As many of you are aware, the Emergency Medical Dispatchers represented by the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) are currently on strike.

Emergency Medical Dispatchers are a critical part of Nova Scotia’s emergency medical system. They are the first point of contact when someone calls for medical assistance, providing life-saving instructions, coordinating ambulance resources, and supporting paramedics from the moment a call is received until care is transferred.

While these dispatchers are represented by a different union, they are an essential part of the same emergency care system that our members work in every day. IUOE Local 727 stands in solidarity with workers exercising their right to bargain collectively for fair wages, safe working conditions, and respect in the workplace.

We encourage all members to take a few minutes to show their support by sending a letter to their MLA through CUPW’s campaign page. The online form makes it quick and easy to have your voice heard.

Collective action and solidarity make a difference. Thank you for supporting fellow emergency service professionals across Nova Scotia.

In Solidarity,

International Union of Operating Engineers Local 727
